AR-15 Accessories

9/26/2008 10:52:35 PM I am new to this site, but I wanted to let you know I ordered a 16″ Car AR-15 Accessories from Terry at AR15-kits.com and his shipping was quick. I made my order by phone. I received mine yesterday and put it together yesterday. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet but the fit and finish looks fine to me. The barrel bore looks good. I think Terry is a stand up guy. They had forgot to put one mag I had ordered with the AR-15 Accessories in the box I called Terry and started to mention the mag issue. He interupted me to say he knew about the mag and it was already on its way. You can’t ask for better service than that. His parts all come from companies I have seen good remarks on this forum. So with that said I think you will be fine and Happy with Terry and AR-15kits..com RacerXXL [Team Member] 9/27/2008 1:44:15 AM Originally Posted By sd_norske: Go with the Delton. What I like about the Troy Stock is that it addressed a lot of issues that the M-14 Scope Mounts had. Riding high in the stock, when mounting a scope.

M14 Scope Mounts

fortunatly the parts are easily switched out for real M-14 Scope Mounts parts or Garand rear sight components. As previosly mentioned the barrels are usualy chambered for 7.62mm nato not nesessarily .308 so do a headspace check every few hundred rounds and you should be good to go. The lack of a chrome lined barrel on the SA guns is an added bonus too. They can be forged all day long and still not overcome the inherent weakness in the chinese design. I will say that yes I would prefer forged over cast but, that is only one consideration. I still think the OP will get the short end if he makes the trade but, YMMV. sw1217 B44T [Team Member]

Mike,

I’d like to warn people about buying scope mounts from LaRue Tactical since you may well not get the one you need, and then they won’t do anything about it. When you spend $250.00 for a scope mount, it damn well be the one you needed, especially when you called and spoke to their rep before ordering.

If you could warn your readers, I think it would be a great service to them. Perhaps ask David to do the same. The story is in the below email stream.

The picture of my rife, scope mount and scope fitted and bore-sighted attached. As you can see, it has to go all the way up to the turret to get a decent eye relief. Also, I had to crank it all the way up to get it bore-sighted for 100 yards, leaving no more elevation for greater distances.

Before anyone buys a quick disconnect sight from LaRue Tactical, they better know exactly what they need to get because the reps at LaRue have no idea.

The shame is that I have previously purchased two other mounts for ACOGS for my other rifles from them. Still they have no interest in rectifying this situation.

Thanks,

My son has been collecting the components to build himself a 7.62 NATO sniper platform on an Armalite receiver much like the one pictured. He was thinking, if memory serves me correctly, of getting a LaRue Tactical mount like the one pictured. I will discourage him from doing so. –

The bullshit you read on the internet about bolts and headspace only apply to the first batch of rifles imported, and you can get spare bolts for cheap from Marstar. I’d rather have a Norinco or Polytech M14 Scope Mounts than an M1A Scope Mounts any day.

Probably be too big…I have a friend who is roughly that size. Height-wise, it was fine. But it wouldn’t cinch down tight enough. Here’s what he wrote when I asked his size:

I am 6-3 and 180 lbs. As for chest size…..not sure but I’m pretty thin there too. My waist is 34 or 36 and my chest is close to that.

If I had soft armor on I could have fit the vest.

So there you have it.

Well thank you TimW for the honest reply.

I am playing around with the idea of buying a plate carrier now that I know plates are not toooo expensive. I was under the assumption that plates alone were in the $1000 range.

Currently for my gear set up I have x2 TT 5.56 Triple Mag Panel, x2 5.56/.223 Single Mag Pouch, HSGI Blowout Pouch, and a HSGI Mini Modular Radio pouch. Am I going to run into problems fitting all of that onto a plate carrier?
